Saleem N Sareem

Saleem N. Sareem departed from this earth on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at the age of 55 in Leominster, Massachusetts.  Saleem was born as William Thomas Turner III on December 18, 1960 in Newark, New Jersey at Beth Israel Hospital to Dorothy J. Turner and William Thomas Turner Jr.  In 1978, Saleem graduated from Malcolm X Shabazz High School in Newark, New Jersey.   After graduating from high School, Saleem completed his Electrician’s apprenticeship and Black Seal’s Boiler license and began working for Newark Public Schools.   He later became Head Custodian at First Avenue Elementary School in Newark, New Jersey.  In 1980, William converted to Islam and changed his name from William Thomas Turner III to Saleem N. Sareem. 

Shortly after the passing of his mother in 2001, Saleem moved to Quincy, Massachusetts and eventually settled in Leominster, Massachusetts. Saleem loved his God, family, friends and music. His father, Williams Thomas Turner Jr. and his mother Dorothy J. Turner preceded Saleem in death.    He is survived by his 3 sisters, Joyce T. Moore (late Kevin L Moore), Evelyn Turner, Shannon Porter (Troy Porter) and1 brother, David Turner (Carolynn Turner) and a very close cousin Kim N. Lewis.   Saleem also had a host of nieces and nephews, Sashir Moore-Sloan (Domnique Sloan), Alvin “Deuce’” Washington (Lish Miller), Lashawn Summers (Todd Summers), Natasha Little (Charles Little) and Janet Bullock.  Saleem also leaves behind a host of great nieces, great nephews, cousins and his beloved Aunt Arleemah Shakoor (Muhammad Shakoor).  Saleem Sareem was loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed.
