Demetria (Mitrush) Konde

 Demetria “Meta” M. (Mitrush) Konde of Worcester, wife of the late Victor, who died in 2002, peacefully passed away on Thursday, November 24th at Holy Trinity Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. They had been married for 45 years.

 She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Peter and Edith (Velko) Mitrush. She is survived by her three sons, Richard T. Konde and his wife Paula of Spencer, Stephen D. Konde and his wife Lori of Worcester and Christopher J. Konde and his wife Beverly of New Braintree. Four grandchildren – Jennifer Goldberg and her husband Ben, Anna Scott and her husband Jonathan, Raymond, Jonathon, and many nephews and nieces.

 She was predeceased by her sisters, Anna (Mitrush) Lukes, Mary Sahagen, and especially nephew Peter A. Stefan.

 She graduated from Commerce High School, Worcester School of Business Science and attended Assumption College.

 Demetria held many wonderful positions in her lifetime, Secretary to the Medical Director, Dr. Karl T. Benedict, Norton Company, and the Worcester Police Department, Operations Division, where she retired. Along with her husband, she was the co-owner of the Tech Spa located in Worcester.

 Demetria was a Secretary and a Member (former) of the United World Federalist, Member of the Appalachian Mountain Club, Den Mother of Boys Scouts of America, Vice President, and longtime member of St. Mary’s Albanian Women’s Guild. She was a volunteer at the Red Cross Nurses Aid during World War II.  She was a member of the First Committee to compile the Albanian Heritage Cookbook, Albanian/American Women’s Club, AARP Member, New England Albanian Relief Organization, and a Member of Shrewsbury Senior Center.

 Demetria was made Honorary Member of the Worcester Police Department Patrol Division in 1988.  She was given the Key to the City of Worcester by Mayor Joseph M. Petty in 2021.

 The family would like to send a special thank you to the many staff members at the Holy Trinity Nursing Rehabilitation Center for the care they provided.

 Calling hours will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2022, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church, 535 Salisbury Street with a Mass to follow. A burial will follow at Hope Cemetery.

 In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Mary’s Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church.
