Barbara (Stanczyk) Witowski, 77

NORTH BROOKFIELD --- Barbara Joan (Stanczyk) Witowski, 77, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at home on July 25, 2021.

She leaves her husband of 53 years, Paul F. Witowski; her son, Adam P. Witowski and his wife Ronda of Quinebaug, CT, her daughter, Lisa M. (Witowski) Benoit and her wife Alicia of Spencer; her grandchildren, Melissa and Walter Johnson III of Spencer; her brother, John J. Stanczyk and his wife Joyce of Westerly, RI; her sister Dorothy (Stanczyk) Wojtowicz and her husband Stanley of North Grafton and many nieces and nephews who she loved very much.

Barbara was born on February 12, 1944 in Worcester, MA to the late Frank and Mary (Pietrewicz) Stanczyk. She was a graduate of Saint Mary’s High School in Worcester, class of 1961. She worked for the town of North Brookfield Police Department for eighteen years where she was part of the D.O.T (Decorate Our Town), the S.O.S. (Strong On Sports), and the 175th Anniversary Parade Committee’s for the town. She also worked at the Worcester Jewish Community Center for twenty-one years, retiring in 2012.

She was an avid cheerleader for her children and grandchildren’s sporting events, never missing a game.  She looked forward to summer vacations at Hampton Beach and Bears Den in Wells, ME. During retirement, she enjoyed traveling with Paul visiting all the lighthouses in Maine.

She loved taking her son and grandson fishing when they were younger and having scrabble tournaments with her daughter. During her spare time, you could find her reading mystery books and watching old films on Turner Classic Movies with her granddaughter.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name can be made to the North Brookfield Police Assn. in c/o North Brookfield Savings Bank, 9 Gilbert St, North Brookfield, MA 01535.  A scholarship will be presented to a graduating senior at the High School in the Spring 2022.
