Robert Peters, Sr. Obituary

Robert Clyde Peters Sr., 83, of Worcester, MA. died on May 15, 2021 of natural causes at the Saint Francis Rehabilitation & Nursing Center. Our family expresses its gratitude to the Center for extraordinary care of our father during the Covid Crisis. He was born in Worcester to Frank and Doris Peters (deceased). He had been a barber in the 1960’s but eventually went to work for the City of Worcester in the Traffic Department for several decades. He would later serve as Traffic Foreman and as Union Shop Steward for many years. These achievements were due to the respect and high regard of those who elevated him. Robert had a talent for sketching and especially loved cartooning. He also later developed his knack for wood carving following in the steps of his grandfather Arthur Burrit. He loved and collected old-time radio shows and was particularly fond of “The Shadow”. Bob had also been an avid motor biker. Bob loved the Patriots and the Red Sox! He never missed a game. In fact, he died while watching them. He hoped to go to the new Polar Park Stadium and wished for a cap from the new Worcester Woo Sox. Neither of those wishes came true for him.

He was also a proud member of the USMC serving overseas during peacetime in the late 1950’s and early 1960’s. His friends at the Worcester Marine Corps League will miss him and honor him during his funeral service. All his friends and acquaintances are welcome. He will be cremated and buried with military honors at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon at a date and time to be announced.

He is survived by seven children: Robert Jr., and Glenn by his first wife Donna (deceased); Linda, Brian, Roger, and Jeff by his second wife Gail; and his youngest daughter Jacqueline Peters and two step-sisters Kim and Christina by his third wife Marion (Dawes, deceased). He also leaves behind his many deeply loved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
