Framingham, MA/ Lynchburg, VA- Reuben Barksdale, III, 68, passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at Waterview Lodge in Ashland, MA after a courageous battle with cancer.

Reuben was born and raised in Lynchburg, VA, a town that will forever hold his heart. After graduating from high school, he went on to proudly serve his country in the US Army during Vietnam. He later moved to Massachusetts where he spent the rest of his years. He was a dedicated and hard working man, working mainly as a laborer at a manufacturing company in MA. Reuben loved to play basketball and to spend time with his many close friends. He will always be remembered for his great sense of humor.

Reuben leaves his wife of many years Marcia (Thayer) Barksdale of Framingham, his four children: Rhonda Braxton of Lynchburg, VA, Tammy Harrison, Jill Fecteau of Framingham, and Eddie Garcia and his wife Sandra of North Port, FL, 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Reuben also leaves his brothers Lee Barksdale of MD and Daniel Barksdale and his wife Bonnie of Lynchburg, VA, and a sister Rosa Barksdale of Lynchburg, VA, as well as many wonderful friends, nieces and nephews. Reuben was predeceased by his father Reuben Barksdale II, his mother Corrine Barksdale Jackson, his step father Howard Jackson, and a step son Jose Garcia.

Calling Hours for Reuben will be held Saturday, August 27, 2016 from 11:00am-1:00PM with a Funeral Service immediately following at the Graham, Putnam & Mahoney Funeral Parlors, 838 Main St. Worcester, MA 01610. Military Honors will be rendered at the Funeral Home following the Funeral Service.

Burial will be private at the Bourne National Cemetery.
